The ICGC Difference

One Team for the Entire Floor

Most concrete grinders don’t do tile removal. You end up booking one trade to strip the tiles, another to clean up the adhesive mess, and a third to grind the slab. That’s three trades, three schedules, and three invoices for one floor.

ICGC does all three. We remove the tiles, grind off every trace of adhesive, and leave your slab smooth, level, and ready for whatever comes next. New tiles, polished concrete, epoxy, vinyl, or timber.

One team. One visit. Done properly.

What's Involved

More Than Just Stripping Tiles

Tile Removal

We use industrial ride-on and walk-behind floor scrapers to remove ceramic, porcelain, terracotta, natural stone, and vinyl tiles from concrete slabs. The machines do the heavy lifting - fast, efficient, and far less disruptive than manual demolition.

Adhesive & Glue Removal

This is where most jobs go wrong. Removing tiles is the easy part. It’s the adhesive underneath that causes problems. Thin-set mortar, tile glue, flexible adhesive, and levelling compounds all need to be ground back to clean concrete. If adhesive residue is left behind, your next finish won’t bond properly. We use diamond grinders to remove all adhesive residue and leave a clean, profiled surface.

Surface Preparation

Once the tiles and adhesive are gone, the slab often needs further preparation - grinding out lippage, levelling high spots, or profiling the surface for coatings. We do this as part of the same job, so your slab is genuinely ready.

How It Works

Our Process

01

Inspect

We check the tile type, adhesive type, slab condition, and what finish is going down next. This determines the right removal method and surface profile.

02

Protect

We set up dust extraction and protect walls, joinery, and any areas not being worked on. Our dust-free process keeps the site clean throughout.

03

Remove Tiles

Industrial floor scrapers strip tiles quickly and efficiently. We work section by section to keep the site manageable and minimise disruption.

04

Grind Adhesive

Diamond grinders remove all adhesive residue, levelling compound, and mortar. We grind until the slab is clean concrete with no contamination.

05

Prepare Surface

We grind the slab to the profile required for your next finish. Whether it’s a smooth surface for vinyl or a rough profile for epoxy, we get it right.

06

Clean Up & Handover

All debris removed. Site left clean. Your slab is ready for the next trade.

Dust-Free

Clean Process, Even Indoors

Tile removal and adhesive grinding produce a lot of dust. In occupied homes and commercial spaces, that dust can be a serious problem.

Every ICGC machine runs with HEPA-filtered dust extraction. The site stays clean, the air stays safe, and you don’t need to move out while we work.

Common Jobs

We See These Every Week

Renovation - Old Tiles to Polished Concrete

Homeowners replacing dated floor tiles with polished concrete. We remove the tiles, grind off the adhesive, and polish the slab in one project.

Residential services

Commercial Fitout - Strip and Recoat

Retail, hospitality, and office spaces getting a new floor finish. We strip existing tiles or vinyl, prepare the slab, and hand over to your coating or flooring installer.

Builder - Tile Prep Gone Wrong

When tiles were laid on a poorly prepared slab and need to come up. We fix the slab so the tiler can start fresh.

Tiler Handover - Slab Ready for Re-tiling

Tilers who need a clean, flat slab with the right surface profile for new thin-set application. We grind to spec and get out of the way.

Common Questions

Tile Removal FAQs

Can't find your answer? Get in touch and we'll talk it through.

Standard grinding produces significant silica dust. We use portable industrial vacuum extraction connected directly to our grinding machinery, capturing dust at the source. This keeps the site cleaner, protects everyone's health, and makes us suitable for occupied or partially occupied buildings including apartments, retail tenancies, and healthcare facilities.

In most cases, yes. Our dust-free grinding process uses industrial HEPA extraction connected directly to the machinery, so there is minimal dust and disruption. We protect surrounding rooms and furniture before we start. Most homeowners carry on as normal in other parts of the house while we work, and commercial clients can often keep adjacent areas operating.

Yes. We remove tiles and mechanically grind off all adhesive residue until the slab is genuinely clean and ready for the next finish. That is the difference between a surface that is stripped and one that is actually ready for tiling, polishing, honing, epoxy, vinyl, or timber. Most concrete grinders do not offer tile removal. We do.

We remove ceramic, porcelain, terracotta, natural stone, and vinyl tiles from concrete slabs using industrial ride-on and walk-behind floor scrapers. The machines handle the heavy lifting, making tile removal faster and far less disruptive than manual demolition. We also remove the adhesive underneath using diamond grinders.

Removing tiles is only half the job. Thin-set mortar, tile glue, flexible adhesive, and levelling compounds all need to be ground back to clean concrete. If adhesive residue is left behind, your next finish will not bond properly, whether that is new tiles, polished concrete, epoxy, vinyl, or timber. We use diamond grinders to remove all adhesive residue and leave a clean, profiled surface ready for the next trade.

Yes. We regularly remove tiles from bathrooms, kitchens, laundries, and wet areas across Gold Coast and Brisbane homes. We work section by section to keep the space manageable, use dust extraction throughout, and leave the slab clean and ready for waterproofing and new tiles or whatever finish comes next.

Most residential tile removal jobs are completed in one to two days, depending on the area and tile type. Commercial strip-outs typically take longer. Modern industrial floor scrapers are much faster than manual removal, and because we handle both tile removal and adhesive grinding in one visit, you avoid the delay of booking separate trades.

Tile removal cost depends on the area, tile type (ceramic is quicker than porcelain or stone), the adhesive used underneath, and whether you also need surface preparation for a new finish. Larger areas are more cost-effective per square metre. We provide written quotes after inspecting the site so there are no surprises.
