The Brief

One Finish, Every Room

Heritage Builders were delivering a premium new home in Holland Park, on a rise looking back toward the Brisbane CBD. They wanted a single, consistent floor running through the whole house, so the living areas, kitchen, hallways, stairs, and even the bedrooms all read as one space.

Polished concrete was the natural choice: hard-wearing, low maintenance, and warm underfoot thanks to the gold and cream aggregate in the mix. The brief was a mirror finish that would make a first impression the moment the owners walked in.

The Work

Ground, Honed, Polished to a Mirror

ICGC worked through the slab in stages: an initial grind to open up the aggregate, then progressive honing through finer and finer diamonds, and a final polish to bring the floor up to a full gloss. Every pass was dust-free, so the site stayed clean for the other trades still finishing the home.

The Result

A Floor That Sets the Tone

The finished floor runs unbroken from the front door through the open-plan living, past the onyx kitchen island, and up the stairs, then continues into every bedroom. The gloss catches the light and the city view, and the warm aggregate keeps the whole home feeling soft rather than industrial.

For the builder, polishing throughout meant one trade, one finish, and one point of contact, rather than coordinating different floor coverings room by room. For the owners, it is a first impression that lasts.
