ICGC Team Training Day: Husqvarna Grinding Equipment
The ICGC team spent a day training on Husqvarna's latest concrete grinding and polishing equipment — staying across the newest techniques, remote control operation, and dust-free processes.
At ICGC, the work doesn't stop when we leave the job site. We invest time in training so our team stays across the latest equipment, techniques, and industry standards — and our clients get the best possible result on every floor.
A massive thank you to Kurt from Rock Up Group for putting together an on-site training package for our expanding team. Our recent training day focused on Husqvarna's latest concrete grinding and polishing equipment, covering everything from remote control operation to refined honing and polishing techniques. Big things coming.
What We Covered
The day was structured around hands-on learning with Kurt and the Rock Up Group team. No slide decks, no theory-only sessions — the team spent the day on the tools, working through real scenarios on a real slab.
Remote Control Operation
Husqvarna's remote-operated grinders are a step change in how large concrete floors are processed. The operator controls the machine from a distance, which means better visibility of the floor surface, reduced physical fatigue on long shifts, and more precise control over grinding paths.

Our team worked through the full remote control system — pairing, navigation, speed control, and switching between grinding modes. Understanding the remote properly means we can use these machines to their full potential on commercial jobs where floor areas are large and time is tight.
Equipment Setup and Maintenance
Getting the machine set up correctly is just as important as the grinding itself. The team went through exhaust fitting, dust extraction hookup, diamond tooling selection, and the mechanical checks that need to happen before every job.

This isn't the kind of thing you can rush. A machine that's set up properly grinds more evenly, runs cooler, and produces a better finish. A machine that's not set up properly damages tooling, leaves marks, and costs time fixing problems that shouldn't have happened.
Honing and Polishing Techniques
The second half of the day focused on honing and polishing techniques — reading the concrete, selecting the right diamond sequence, and understanding how different slab conditions affect the final finish.

Every slab is different. Aggregate exposure, pour quality, cure time, and moisture content all affect how the concrete responds to grinding. The instructors walked us through how to read these conditions and adjust our approach for each job — rather than running the same process on every floor and hoping for the best.
The Results
By the end of the day, the training slab was taken from raw concrete through to a high-gloss polished finish. The team worked through the full sequence — coarse grinding, honing, and progressive polishing — to see exactly how each stage affects the final result.

Why Training Days Matter
Concrete grinding equipment evolves. New diamond tooling, updated machine firmware, improved dust extraction systems — if you're not staying across these changes, you're grinding with yesterday's approach.
Training days like this aren't a box-ticking exercise. They're how we make sure every member of the ICGC team can deliver the same standard of finish, regardless of the job size or slab condition.

For our clients — builders, renovators, and homeowners across the Gold Coast, Brisbane, and Northern Rivers — this translates into better results, fewer issues, and a team that knows its equipment inside and out.
